Mark Paxton DDS—Oral Surgeon


Dr. Mark Paxton was raised in Bellevue, Washington and received his undergraduate degree from Washington State University in 1976. Dr. Paxton received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1980 from the University of Washington and then completed a one-year, hospital-based, general practice residency at the University of Washington Hospitals in Seattle, Washington. Following his residency, he practiced general dentistry with the United States Air Force, and was stationed in Washington, D.C. and Wiesbaden, Germany.

In 1989, Dr. Paxton began a four-year oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Travis Air Force Base in Northern California. His training provided extensive experience in orthognathic reconstructive and facial aesthetic surgery. Dr. Paxton is a board certified surgeon and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and is also board certified with the American Board of Dental Anesthesiology.

Clinical Research and Experience
Due to his interest in educational training and clinical research, Dr. Paxton was asked to remain on the teaching staff at Travis Air Force Base Medical Center following the completion of his residency. Through his efforts as Research Director, clinical research projects on temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, maxillofacial reconstruction, rigid fixation and stability following orthognathic surgery, bone grafting and healing, and many pharmacology studies have been completed.

In 1995, Dr. Paxton and his family relocated to Spokane, Washington and opened Spokane Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Shortly thereafter, the practice became an accredited ambulatory surgery center by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care, Inc (AAAHC), the first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and Inland Empire. In July of 2000, Dr. Paxton opened a satellite office located on the South Hill of Spokane and opened a third satellite office in Post Falls, Idaho in 2007.

Accomplishments and Affiliations
Dr. Paxton’s professional accomplishments also include an appointment by Governor Gary Locke to serve a three-year term as a member of the Washington State Dental Quality Assurance Commission. From 2006 to 2007, Dr. Paxton was nominated as the Citizen of the Year by the Washington State Dental Association. Dr. Paxton has also served on the Executive Council for the Spokane District Dental Society, and was also appointed President of the Washington State Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons Society for 2001. Dr. Paxton is a current member of the Spokane District Dental Society Foundation, Sacred Heart Medical Center Pediatric Hospital Foundation, and is a Trustee for the Washington State University (WSU) Foundation. In addition, he is a present member of the following professional organizations:

In the Community
Dr. Paxton’s interest in the care of patients with craniofacial deformities has also enabled him to serve as a volunteer for the non-profit organization, Hearts in Motion. Over the past 30 years, Dr. Paxton and staff have traveled on missions to Central and South America. During these surgical missions, Dr. Paxton has provided care to many children and adults with cleft lip and palate and other craniofacial deformities.

Outside the Office
Dr. Paxton is married to Dr. Diane Paxton, an orthodontist in the Spokane Valley. The Paxton’s have two children: Christopher, who pilots C-130 aircraft for the USAF, and Lindsey, who currently attends Gonzaga Law School. The Paxton family enjoys snow skiing, hiking, mountain climbing, biking and sailing adventures, as well as spending time with family and friends.


Mike Johnson DDS—Prosthodontist


Dr. Johnson graduated from the University of Washington dental school then practiced general dentistry for 6 years in downtown Seattle.

He then spent three years at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine, Rochester, MN, receiving a Master's degree in Prosthodontics (reconstructive dentistry) and a certificate in Maxillofacial Prosthetics in 1992.

He is board certified in prosthodontics and maintains a private practice limited to fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics in Bellevue and Spokane, WA.

Dr. Johnson mentors study clubs, gives lectures and presents continuing education courses to general dental and specialty dental organizations on implants and prosthodontics. He has lectured to multiple state and national dental organizations and is a member of multiple organizations related to prosthodontics and dental implants.

He is married and has two grown children. He and his wife enjoy scuba diving, golfing, musicals and travel in their spare time.


Mike Brooks DDS—Prosthodontist


Dr. Brooks received his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA. He completed a four year residency in Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he also earned a Master’s Degree in Prosthodontics from the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. He served in the United States Air Force practicing the specialties of Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics. Dr. Brooks is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists and a fellow of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, and has received the John J. Sharry Award and the Joseph B. Barron Award from these organizations. Dr. Brooks was the prosthodontist at ClearChoice Dental Implant Center in Bellevue, WA and has maintained a private practice in Poulsbo, WA for many years. Dr. Brooks is currently a partner in Washington State Prosthodontics and Dental Implant Center of Spokane.


Nick Freuen DDS, MD—Oral Surgeon


Dr. Freuen was born in 1981 and raised in Spokane Washington. He then ventured from Spokane to attend Creighton University in Omaha Nebraska where he would meet his wife Amy. He graduated from Creighton University School of Dentistry in 2007, moved to New York, then graduated from Stony Brook Medical School in 2010. In 2011 he completed his general surgery internship at Stony Brook Medical Center. Dr. Freuen completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency from Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 2013 and became certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2015.

Dr. Nicholas Freuen and his wife Amy now find themselves in Spokane where they hope to take advantage of all the blessings the Great Pacific Northwest has to offer. They enjoy all outdoor activities and look forward to being active members within the community.


Terry Hauck DDS, MD—Oral Surgeon


I was born in Okinawa, Japan at a US armed forces hospital. My father was career military and we settled in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I attended the University of Denver graduating in 1983 with a degree in Chemistry. As for dental school, I graduated from the University of Colorado in 1987. My OMFS residency was at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland AFB, Texas from 1992–1998 graduating from the University of Texas Health Science Center Medical School in 1996.

I moved to Spokane in May of 2000. I have a wife, Jeanette, of 32 years along with 2 boys: Eric, age 27 and Sean, age 23. I enjoy bicycling, golf, boating and skiing.


Anthony Weber DDS—General Dentist


Dr. Anthony Weber graduated from Washington State University with Bachelor of Science degrees in both neuroscience and zoology in 2007/2008. He then graduated at the top of his class from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, Magma Cum Laude with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2013. Dr. Weber completed rotations in surgical anesthesia and received extensive training in oral surgery, endodontics and prosthodontics. He is certified in Intravenous Sedation, Pediatric Oral Moderate Sedation, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. He also completed a two year advanced surgical and restorative implant training program at USC.

Dr. Weber received senior awards in anesthesiology and endodontics. He is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American Dental Association, the Washington State Dental Association, and the Spokane District Dental Society. Durning dental school, Dr. Weber enjoyed doing community service, providing free dental care to hundreds of children and adults in the Los Angeles area, while also traveling throughout central America and Africa on numerous dental mission trips. He is married to Dr. Lori Weber, who is also a general dentist in the Spokane area.


Kevin Truong, DMD


Dr. Kevin Truong is a general dentist who focuses on preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry. His philosophy is to create beautiful healthy smiles that one can be proud of and to build lasting relationships with his patients by treating them with respect, kindness, and a gentle touch.

Dr. Kevin was born in Vietnam and moved to the United States when he was 4 years old. He spent his childhood and teenage years growing up in San Jose, California. Dr. Kevin graduated with Cum Laude honors from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. In 2008, he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University School of Dental Medicine with Cum Laude honors. He also completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Temple University School of Dental Medicine.

Sami—Treatment Coordinator
Hi! My name is Sami and I have been in the dental field for 8 years. My dental background includes general dental assisting, orthodontia assisting, financial coordinating, billing, general and oral surgery front office. I love being able to help patients understand what their treatment needs are and being able to explain it to them using my well-rounded background. Outside of the office, I love spending time with my husband, Tom and our dog Ellie. We love to be outdoors and spend time with our friends and family!



Jenna—Scheduling Coordinator

Hi, I'm Jenna. I attended Apollo College from 2002-2003 where I studied to become a Dental Assistant. I have since spent the last several years working in the customer service and marketing field. I enjoy nurturing relationships with both our patients and other offices, really taking the time to get to know them and their specific needs so that I can help provide them the best service I am capable of.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband and girls in the mountains playing in snow or out on the lake on a hot summer day!





Tracey—Patient Coordinator

Hi. My name is Tracey and I have been in the dental field for over 28 years. I started as a certified dental assistant and later advanced to the front office. I love working with patients and seeing the wonderful transformations in their smile.

My husband and I live north of Spokane and enjoy camping, taking our Jeep on adventures, hunting and fishing. We have two grown children that we are very proud of and they love the outdoors as well.

Renee—Administrative Manager

Hi, I'm Renee. I have been with Dr. Paxton and in the dental field for 10 years. I started my healthcare career with hospital billing and customer service over 15 years ago. I feel that our staff at Northwest Implants and Sleep Dentistry is the very best there is. The combined knowledge and years of training makes our providers experts in their fields and allows our clinic to provide the very best care for Spokane and our surrounding communities.

Kim—Surgical Assistant

Hi there I'm Kim. I moved to WA in 2004, I absolutely love the Spokane area. I got my first job working with the public in 2007. I've always enjoyed working with others and brightening everyone's day. In 2013 I began studying Dental Hygiene at Spokane Community College, and graduated from River City School of Dental Assisting in 2015. I started working with Dr. Paxton and his staff January 2016 I enjoy how everyone is friendly, educated, and takes pride in their work.


Danielle—Surgical Supervisor

Hi! My name is Danielle and I have been a surgical assistant with Dr. Paxton for over 15 years. I am certified in ACLS, PALS, DAANCE, and I am a BLS instructor. I enjoy working with patients and seeing the wonderful transformations we can provide for them. I love spending time with my husband, our two beautiful girls, and our dog Rambo. We love to go hiking, boating and camping.



Amanda—Dental Assistant

Hi, I'm Amanda. I have been a Dental Assistant since 2005. In my 11 years of assisting I have assisted in Periodontal Surgeries and General Dentistry. I enjoy working with patients and making their experience the best it can be.

In my spare time I am a mom of two boys full of energy and their two dogs; Archie and Kimber. We enjoy racing dirt bikes, hunting and horseback riding.


Faith—Dental Assistant

Hi there! I'm Faith. I started working at NWISD as a dental assistant, January 2017 and I love it! I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of an incredible team that I highly respect and appreciate.

I graduated from River City School of Dental Assisting in 2015 and currently attend Spokane Falls Community College, where I am working towards my Surgical Technologist certification.

When I'm not at work or school, I enjoy spending time at my family's farm, cooking, being at church, hiking, hunting, fishing or simply relaxing!
